R&L signs 5-year contract with NRG/GenOn

R & L Development Company will continue its work with NRG through 2024 after finalizing a five-year contract to provide various services to multiple generating stations throughout the region.

In 2013, R & L Development Company was named the NRG Supplier of the Year. It recorded over 120,000 man-hours without a lost-time incident throughout the course of the year.

R & L has been providing safety and quality to more than 15 NRG-owned generating stations across Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Other projects include stream relocations, scrubber-related work, and land remediation. Head to our Recent Projects for more details on these services.

NRG SOTY Award

R&L Development Company has been named the O&M Supplier of the Year for NRG. R&L services 17 power plants across Pennsylvania and West Virgina for NRG, providing numerous services for the energy company. An exemplary record of safety, value, and performance has led to the recognition as Supplier of the Year. Luke Latimer, CEO and President, received the award in Houston, Texas.

After exemplary performance in safety, ash hauling, civil construction, and maintenance services, R&L was a clear choice for Supplier of the Year. In 2013, the company recorded 120,000 man hours without a lost-time incident. In fact, the only recorded incident was a pinched finger. R&L’s safety record in 2013, as well as the last three years, ranks them in the top 10 percent of their industry classification.

R&L does more for NRG than property maintenance and land development. To date, their negotiations of stand-alone union agreements have saved NRG over $600,000 annually. Coupled with on-site equipment maintenance, R&L Development has resulted in over $8 million in total savings.

R&L adds value to their product. After training field personnel to work efficiently, their employees are more safe and more effective with full support from management. They upgrade equipment for more productive handling of residual waste byproducts. Communication with plant engineers and product managers promotes cost-effective prevention of complications. By partnering with sub-contractors and vendors, they can provide cost savings on materials and assist with project assessments and engineering.

R&L will continue to work with NRG through 2019 to provide ash-hauling, coal yard remediation, stream relocation, and land remediation.
